We're Getting Married

So, we're engaged. I asked her to marry me on our first night in our new house. Buying a house and an engagement ring at the same time is not an inexpensive proposition. I'm feeling poor but happy.

I'm surrounded by boxes and packing material. I'm hoping we make enough headway over the weekend to really make this place feel more like a home and less like a storage unit. We're getting there, though. We have a goal to unpack at least three boxes per day. Kate's doing great - me, not so much. In my defense, I am putting together all the new furniture and making recycling runs, trips to Lowe's, etc.

Too Much Stuff

So many boxes strewn around the house. All of them were labeled by the movers, who apparently aren't that creative when it comes to describing the contents of a box. They ALL claim to be filled with "stuff."

The house is a wreck, the movers wouldn't move the big stuff through the second floor window (the stairway from the ground floor is too narrow) so we are having to hire MORE movers to do the difficult work.

I have more news, too. Exciting stuff. I'll write about that soon.

Move Day!

We're finally moving into our new house today. That's the new house that was built in 1885, if you're keeping track. Lots of stress and stuff to organize, but we're very excited. I'll update soon with some good moving/house buying stories.

Now I'm only a 10 minute train to Manhattan. Good times.

This picture is hung up in the QA area of my company. I've walked by it many times over the last month and a half, and it makes me laugh every damn time. Sometimes, I start to feel a little bad for all the ridicule this woman must receive, but then I laugh again.
